Product of the month: Microbiome test
From Endomedix for the comfort and safety of your patients, propofol anaesthesia is one of the most modern and safest methods available, backed by strict protocols, expert supervision and advanced technology. In addition to the complete painlessness of the test, the short-acting properties of propofol allow patients to wake up quickly, minimising the after-effects of anaesthetics. Prof. Dr. Ákos Csomós, our Medical Director of Anaesthesiology, and his team of experts ensure that all tests are performed with the highest level of safety. However, for the safety of our patients after anaesthesia, we ask them to come with an escort to the examination, as it takes a short time to reach full alertness.
Propofol anaesthesia allows our patients to undergo the tests painlessly and in complete comfort. Patients do not experience any discomfort during anaesthesia, which also has the advantage that the mirror examination can be carried out more thoroughly because the patient does not move. Anaesthesia with propofol ensures rapid awakening and has fewer side effects such as nausea or dizziness. This is particularly beneficial for those who have experienced discomfort during medical procedures in the past, as propofol anaesthesia makes the examination stress-free.
At Endomedix Centres, patient safety is always a top priority and anaesthesia is administered according to strict protocols. Prior to anaesthesia, our patients complete a questionnaire which asks the patient in detail about previous surgeries, co-morbidities, medications taken regularly - ensuring that every patient receives the best possible care during anaesthesia. Anaesthesia is administered by an experienced consultant, who is assisted by a dedicated anaesthetist assistant. The anaesthetised patient is under constant supervision throughout and after the procedure.
The anaesthesia equipment used at Endomedix is state-of-the-art, including a professional anaesthesia machine, patient monitors and a computerised infusion pump specially designed for propofol administration. During anaesthesia, the patient's pulse rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and brain concentration of propofol are continuously monitored, allowing for individualised anaesthesia and continuous, accurate administration of the anaesthetic. Such devices ensure that anaesthesia is as painless and safe as possible for the patient.
Propofol is particularly beneficial during endoscopic examinations because it is fast-acting and rapidly broken down in the body. This short duration of action allows patients to regain alertness quickly and experience fewer side effects following the examination. Several clinical studies have investigated the pharmacokinetic properties of propofol and have shown that it has an extremely low risk when used in an appropriate expert setting. Due to the short duration of action, patients recover alertness relatively quickly after the end of the study, minimising the after-effects of the anaesthetic.
At Endomedix, we have a detailed patient selection protocol to ensure patient safety. During the selection process, we assess the patient's age, general health, medical history and drug allergies. If necessary, a preliminary anaesthesia consultation is held, where the anaesthetist assesses the patient's suitability for anaesthesia before preparing for the examination. This ensures that our patients who come for the examination receive the best care, painless and comfortable thanks to propofol anaesthesia.
As propofol is short-acting, patients recover quickly, but it is essential that they are accompanied to the examination for complete safety. This is also required by the Health Act in Hungary, so we cannot deviate from this. After the anaesthesia, patients are placed in a quiet recovery room where they remain in the company of an attendant until they are fully awake, usually 30 minutes. After that, the attendant will ensure that the patient's journey home is safe and comfortable. This allows our patients to return to their home environment with maximum safety and peace of mind.
