When is this combined examination recommended?
This examination assesses the abdominal organs, the pelvic structures and both groins at the same time — so the cause of the complaints below can be clarified in a single visit.
-
Pain or swelling in the groin
For a precise examination of the inguinal canal if a hernia is suspected.
-
Lower abdominal cramps, discomfort
When pain radiates to the groin or towards the pelvis.
-
Sports injuries
To find the source of muscle and connective tissue pain in the groin area.
-
Urological or gynaecological complaints
To clarify the condition of the bladder, the prostate, or the uterus and ovaries.
-
Digestive disorders, bowel complaints
For a functional check of the abdominal organs — liver, spleen, kidneys.
-
Post-operative check-up
To monitor healing after inguinal hernia surgery.
-
Comprehensive screening
For prevention, to check your overall internal balance.
-
Palpable lumps
To distinguish swollen lymph nodes from other structures in the groin.
Does any of these complaints sound familiar? A single examination can clarify the abdomen, the pelvis and the groin.
This list is for information only and does not replace a specialist examination. If you have severe groin pain that starts suddenly or suspect an incarcerated hernia, do not wait for an appointment: go to the nearest emergency service. Why choose the combined examination at Endomedix?
-
01
Three areas in a single visit
This package covers the entire middle and lower part of the body. Our experts review not only the abdominal organs but also the pelvic and groin regions, so you can get a comprehensive diagnosis in a single visit — saving you separate appointments and journeys.
-
02
Immediate written report
During the examination, our doctor continuously analyses what they see, and at the end hands you a detailed report. If we detect a hernia in the groin, a stone in the abdominal cavity or inflammation in the pelvis, you will know the exact diagnosis straight away.
-
03
Specialised medical background
At Endomedix, our ultrasound diagnostics are backed by gastroenterology expertise. This ensures that the results are not only recorded technically but, if needed, our doctor also helps to interpret them in the context of the patient's symptoms.
How should you prepare for the examination?
Proper preparation is the key to an accurate diagnosis — each of the three areas examined has different requirements.
-
01
Abdominal part
Do not eat, smoke or chew gum for 5–6 hours before the examination — swallowed air and gas formation obscure the organs.
-
02
Pelvic part
A full bladder is essential: 1 hour before the examination, drink about half a litre of still water and do not go to the toilet until after the examination.
-
03
Groin part
No special preparation is needed, but clothing that is easy to take off helps the examination go quickly and comfortably.
-
04
Medicines
Take your regular medicines as usual with a little water.
Did you know?
Five questions and answers about the combined ultrasound examination.
-
Did you know that a hernia can also be examined during movement?
Our doctor may ask you to cough or strain — this makes hernias that stay hidden at rest visible.
-
Did you know that swollen lymph nodes in the groin are often just a sign of inflammation elsewhere?
Lymph nodes act as filters for the surrounding area, so they may also enlarge in response to inflammation in the legs or the pelvis. Ultrasound helps to distinguish harmless reactive swelling from a change that needs further investigation.
-
Did you know that a full bladder acts as a “window” for pelvic ultrasound?
Sound waves travel better through water, so deeper-lying organs can also be seen in sharp detail.
-
Did you know that the examination fee can be paid from your health fund account?
This way you can look after your health using funds supported by a tax benefit.
-
Did you know that this examination can be repeated as often as needed?
Because there is no radiation exposure, it is the safest choice for people with chronic conditions and for expectant mothers too.
Can also be paid from a health fund account
The examination fee can of course also be paid from your health fund account — our colleagues will be happy to give you the details. The list of health funds that work with Endomedix can be found here.
