How should you prepare for the examination?
Following the instructions is essential for accurate imaging — there are four things to keep in mind.

Empty stomach
Do not eat, smoke or chew gum for 5-6 hours before the examination — these cause gas to build up, which obscures the organs.

Fluids
You may drink only still water.

Full bladder
A full bladder is important for examining the pelvic area, but do not drink anything more in the 30 minutes before the examination.

Comfort
It is best to wear clothing that is easy to take off and put back on, as your abdomen will need to be uncovered.
