Food intolerance is when the body does not tolerate certain foods or ingredients and this causes various symptoms and complaints in the body.
Food intolerance is not the same as food allergy. Food allergies affect relatively few people, and symptoms can be severe and appear immediately after eating the food that triggers the allergy. Food intolerance, on the other hand, affects one in three people, with symptoms developing days or weeks after eating the food and the severity of the symptoms depending on how much food has been consumed.
The symptoms of food intolerance are extremely varied. The disease mainly causes gastrointestinal symptoms - diarrhoea, bloating, bloating, and severe intestinal gas - but can also cause headaches, migraines, acne, acne or other skin problems such as eczema. In addition, food intolerance has been associated with a number of conditions (e.g. IBS).
Food intolerance can be caused by several mechanisms. In Endomedix, we look at food sensitivities as a consequence of an immune response. Blood tests are performed to determine the amount of IgG antibodies produced against foods. If the test reveals intolerance to certain foods, we can expect to have a reduction in our symptoms by eliminating those foods from our diet.
