Colonoscopy with specialist consultation

After inserting the device into the rectum, a special instrument is used to place the rubber ring on the dilated vein. The haemorrhoid will die as a result of the clamping, suture and then scar. The desiccated tissue is removed spontaneously after 5-7 days. The application of the rubber ring takes a few minutes and may be accompanied by a temporary feeling of tightness. One (or two) haemorrhoids can be treated at a time. At least two weeks should elapse between repeated treatments. The number of treatments depends on the situation, usually 2-3 times. After the procedure, there may be a feeling of tightness around the rectum for 1-2 days.

Presentation of the test

During the anoscopy consultation, our gastroenterologist will thoroughly understand the patient's complaints and medical history, and perform a general physical examination as necessary. The rectum will be examined. The first step of this is preparation, where the patient is given a special laxative (LaxaClean) to cleanse the rectum, which takes about 10-15 minutes to clear. This is followed by a physical examination, which is typically a non-painful but somewhat uncomfortable procedure. The doctor, wearing a rubber glove and using his finger to feel the rectal wall, can detect abnormalities and bleeding up to 8-10 cm and assess the tone of the sphincter. This is followed by anoscopy, where the doctor inserts a single-use tube-shaped instrument into the rectum. The anoscope is used to examine the rectum for about 10 to 15 cm and to check the size and location of the haemorrhoids, and to decide which treatment to use.

Nodus ringing

The anoscopy may involve the placement of up to 2 rings. This can be done at the first consultation or at a later date at the patient's request.

Control anoscopy

If ringing is performed, a control anoscopy is also required at the latest 1 week later. See the price list of our centre.
