What happens during the consultation and the anoscopy?

I.

Personalised medical history form

During a relaxed conversation with our doctor, they will go through your symptoms, their eating habits and lifestyle. This atmosphere of trust is essential for an accurate diagnosis, after all, proctological complaints are often caused by simple lifestyle factors.

II.

Gentle and accurate diagnosis (Anoscopy)

The examination is carried out with the patient lying on their left side. The doctor took out a thin, lubricated, inserts a single-use instrument (anoscope), which allows you to dig to a depth of 10–12 cm, The anal canal can be viewed in high resolution. This method is not painful, but it is essential to determine the stage of haemorrhoids and any other lesions (e.g. cracks, (polyps) for identification.

III.

Immediate treatment plan

At Endomedix, a diagnosis is not followed by a waiting period. Our specialist will draw up the treatment plan straight away, whether it involves medication, a special diet, or – if the patient’s condition permits – even immediate rubber band ligation of the haemorrhoid (Barron ligation).

How should you prepare for the examination? – Useful advice

You don’t need to worry about any complicated preparations before a proctological examination, but there are a few small things you can do to help ensure your appointment goes smoothly and is stress-free.

Arrival and timing:

Please ensure that, at least Please arrive 20 minutes early to our centre in Budapest. This is necessary because, prior to the examination, we carry out a gentle, on-site cleansing procedure (LaxaClean), which takes approximately 15 minutes to take effect. This ensures that the doctor can examine a clean and clearly visible area.

Food and drink:

You do not need to fast for this test. You’re welcome to have breakfast or lunch as usual, and drinking plenty of fluids (water, tea) is also strongly recommended. Eating does not affect the results of the anoscopy or the success of the treatment in any way.

Clothing and comfort:

We recommend that in comfortable, easy-to-put-on-and-take-off clothing Please come as you are. Although you will only need to remove your underwear for the examination (for which we will provide disposable examination shorts or a sheet), for your own comfort, wearing loose-fitting clothing will make it easier to prepare for the examination and to get dressed again afterwards.

Artefacts and documents:

If you have any previous proctological reports, final reports or relevant laboratory results, please bring them with you. This will help our specialist to gain a more accurate picture of your medical history and the progression of your symptoms.
