A new gastroenterology clinic opened in Debrecen on Tuesday. The aim of the Endomedix centre at Nyugati utca 28. is to make it easier to prevent, screen for and treat diseases such as colorectal cancer and lactose or fructose intolerance.
At the opening ceremony, Dr. Alajos Takáts, the director of Endomedix, based in Budapest, said that the company, which has six clinics (Budapest, Gyula, Győr, Miskolc, Siófok, Veszprém) and additional blood collection points, had tried to open a centre in Debrecen before, but it failed. However, preliminary surveys suggest that there is now a good chance that they will be needed, as waiting lists for endoscopic examinations are very long.
Dr. László Szegedi, head of the institute in Debrecen, explained that their main profile includes colorectal cancer screening (which is performed with the most modern equipment), but they also perform gastroscopy, polyp removal, food intolerance and histological examinations.
