Gallstone removal - if small stones from the gallbladder have entered the bile ducts, it is advisable to remove the gallstones before gallbladder surgery.
This can be done by ERCP and ursodeoxycholic acid, but often one procedure is not enough.
During ERCP, a guide wire is used to access the Bile ductsand then, after injecting contrast media, they make it visible, together with the stones inside.
These stones are then removed from the bile ducts into the horseshoe casing using a balon, a Dormia basket or a stone crusher.
