The oral examination process – examination of the oral cavity includes inspection, palpation and instrumental examination of the teeth, the lining of the oral cavity, the tongue and the bony structures bordering the oral cavity.
If this raises the possibility of a disease, the examining doctor may order further imaging (X-ray, ultrasound, computed tomography), magnetic resonance or instrumental (endoscopy, aspiration cytology) examinations.
The oral cavity examinations should, where possible, always take place after brushing your teeth.
