Treatment of pancreatic cancer – in only about 10-15% of pancreatic cancer cases is curative surgery possible; in this operation, a section of the duodenum is removed together with the affected pancreas.
Pancreatic canceroften requires combined chemotherapy and radiotherapy in addition to surgery.
Advanced pancreas
cancercases no longer benefit meaningfully from surgery. Bridging chemotherapy and radiotherapy may then be considered. Pain relief procedures and pain medication are an integral part of treatment.
The effectiveness of new biological therapies in this disease is not yet satisfactory.
