Diseases of the pancreas – the three most important diseases of the pancreas are acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic tumours.
Less common conditions include developmental abnormalities and the damaging effects of whole-body metabolic/storage diseases on the pancreas, such as disorders of iron and copper metabolism and cystic fibrosis, as well as the likewise rare hormone-producing tumours (neuroendocrine tumours, carcinoid tumours).
