Colon ulcer – ulcerative diseases of the colon are most often associated with inflammation.
The most important ulcer-forming colitis-type conditions are Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
In the former the ulcers occur in patches, whereas in the latter they extend continuously.
Symptoms may include abdominal pain, diarrhoea and bloody stools. Infectious inflammation and disorders of the blood supply to the coloncan also cause ulcers.
