Colon polyp – small growths in the colon, ranging in size from a few millimetres to a few centimetres, are called polyps.
They may sit on a stalk or with a broad base on the colonwall.
They usually cause no symptoms, but they can bleed. Their significance lies in the fact that polyps are regarded as precancerous growths: over 10-15 years, colorectal cancercan develop from them.
