Diseases of the stomach – diseases of the stomach can be divided into the following main groups:
- acute, chronic and special types of inflammation of the stomach lining and stomach disorders (gastritis and gastropathy),
- peptic ulcer disease (associated with Helicobacter pylori infection, associated with taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, stress ulcers, associated with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and Helicobacter pylori-negative types [caused by viral infections, toxins, cytostatics, Crohn's disease or parietal cell hyperplasia])
- developmental abnormalities (webs, pyloric obstruction), diverticula; functional disorders (functional dyspepsia, antral dysfunction), tumours.
