Examination of the stomach – in examining the stomach , radiological methods (stomach X-ray, barium passage examination, ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging), fibre-optic examinations (endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound) and functional tests (isotope motility testing, multichannel impedance testing) all play a role.
Samples for histological examination can only be taken during an endoscopic examination.
