Stomach cancer

Stomach cancer - a malignant disease most common between the ages of 50 and 60, and more common in men.

Risk factors include dietary habits (consumption of smoked meats, high animal fats and low vegetable fibre), smoking and alcohol consumption, immunodeficiency conditions, precancerous conditions (atrophic gastritis, vitamin B12-deficient anaemia, post gastric surgery, specific gastritis ([Menetrier's gastritis]), the Stomach benign tumours, Helicobacter pylori infection.

Certain hereditary cancers (polyposis syndromes, cancer family syndrome) are also a risk factor.
