Heartburn

Heartburn - heartburn (pyrosis, esophagitis) is a sensation caused by acidic/alkaline stomach contents affecting the lining of the esophagus.

It is most often caused by gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.

You can go to the Food-pipe with inflammation or swelling of the mucous membranes, but it can also occur without these changes (non-erosive reflux disease).

Complaints may be due to individual hypersensitivity, the Food-pipe a movement disorder can make it worse. Treatment involves the use of antacids and certain dietary and lifestyle measures.

It is advisable to avoid smoking and drinking alcohol. It is also not recommended to eat spicy, highly spicy, peppery, acidic foods, as these have a direct mucosal irritant effect.

It may be beneficial to introduce smaller meals several times a day.
